Plumbing Tip:

Before winter be sure to remove your hose from your outside tap and let your outside tap drain. If your outside tap is a frost free tap then it will drain once the hose is removed and then you simply turn it to the off position.  If you have sediment faucets then you must make sure that you drain out the lines and turn off both the valves inside and outside. This will avoid your outside tap from freezing and cracking.

Heating Tip:

Furnaces and heaters should be serviced once a year by a qualified furnace service technician. Furnace maintenance service or heater maintenance service can take place at any time during the year; the warm off-heating season months are an ideal time to call the furnace repair and maintenance service, leaving your heating unit ready for the winter to come.  In the long run, good furnace maintenance will go a long way to save energy, reduce emissions, and save you money on your heating utility bill.
